The Ethical Code |

Engineers should work to enhance the welfare if all whilst paying due regard to the environment and sustainability of resources. Their knowledge should be exploited to enhance the well being of society. There are 4 fundamental principles; 1. Accuracy and Rigor; to ensure that the knowledge and skills they have are used wisely and faithfully in the service of others. 2. Honesty and Integrity; the highest standards of honesty, professional conduct, openness and fairness should be adopted 3. Respect for life law and public good; relevant laws, facts and published guidance and public interest should be taken into account. 4. Responsible Leadership; Listening and understanding. Engineers should aspire to high standards. They hold a privileged and trusted position in society and should demonstrate that they serve the wider community and are sensitive to public concern. |
